Job Summary

The Event Technician, Stage Technologies will be a generalist in all production departments (audio, video, and stage technologies) and specialize in the lighting field of the stage technologies department. The Event Technician will support the installation, operation, and strike of technical performance systems during residencies, research, and events. In addition, the Event Technician, Stage Technologies will maintain working knowledge of current lighting and staging equipment and their integration with other production systems (audio, video), and utilize this expertise in upholding the high production standards of EMPAC events.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Four (4) or more years of general production experience required, including two (2) or more years of stage-related experience (lighting, carpentry, rigging, stage design, etc.)

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in theater; stage production related
• Two (2) years in audio/video production environment, executing event set-up, operation and strike, or in production lighting field with audio/video production 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of lighting equipment, infrastructure, basic theater electrics, and general industry practices applicable to the lighting of: live productions, theatrical performances, art installations, performance art, concerts, film shoots or special events
• Ability to operate and program lighting consoles
• Skills include electronic and lighting equipment repair
• Requires excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $24.00 - $25.55 per hour

Job Summary

The HVAC/r & Building Maintenance Technician will perform diversified duties for general building maintenance including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and painting. HVAC-r responsibilities include repair, maintenance and installation of refrigeration, air conditioning, chilled water, compressed air, heating and ventilation systems and associated controls. Participates in on-call rotation in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years of related and progressively more responsible experience in HVAC/r or Associate Degree from an HVAC/r related curriculum. 
• EPA Refrigeration Certification to handle EPA Type 1 and 2 or Universal refrigerant within 120 days of hire
• Valid US driver’s license
• Must have the ability to be medically qualified for respirator use.

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC and control system installation and maintenance experience
• Experience with building management systems
• NYS Certified Pesticide Applicator Class 7G 
• Associate Degree from an HVAC/r related curriculum. 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated fundamental knowledge of basic refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of basic construction trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and metal work
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and tune small boilers, furnaces, heat pumps
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in field
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and diagnose basic electrical circuits
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints, pneumatic prints, digital flow charts, schematic drawings and control diagrams
• Ability to utilize electrical, pneumatic and digital control systems and applications
• Ability to use networked building management systems
• Ability to operate and make basic adjustments to reciprocating and centrifugal chillers
•  Ability to maintain control air compressors
•  Ability to use hand tools and power tools
• Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
• Excellent customer relation skills
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to operate a computer using standard office software and industry specific software

Preferred Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

• Ability to utilize electrical, pneumatic and digital control systems and applications
